Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Festival
This year’s Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Festival features an exciting line-up of new events at venues around The Gorge over the weekend of 21st – 23rd September. The Festival starts on Friday night with a 1920s inspired ‘A Night on the Tiles’ at Maws Craft Centre in Jackfield. For the Friday evening only, the magnificent courtyard at Maws Craft Centre, once home to the world’s largest tile factory, will be transformed into an 1920s style ‘illicit speakeasy’, where you can enjoy fun and revelry at the 'Gatsby' themed open-air concert. Dress up and party the night away with the Jackfield Jazz Band featuring Tom Wenlock on vocals. Join in the ‘Revel in Dance’ Charleston workshop and enjoy a decadent Flapper inspired cocktail. Tickets costing £13.50 must be booked in advance, either online at www.ironbridge.org.uk, by calling 01952 883190 or in person at the Tile Press at Maws Craft Centre. There is free parking at Maws and at Jackfield Tile Museum for the evening. The annual Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Festival celebrates Ironbridge Gorge’s World Heritage Site status, which ranks it alongside the Great Wall of China, Pyramids of Egypt and India’s Taj Mahal in terms of its historical significance. The Festival has been made possible thanks to Telford & Wrekin Council with funding from Arts Council England.
